Pembina Valley
Toastmasters Club #5214

Morden and Winker
Manitoba, CANADA

"I love to talk--but not in front of lots of people!"

We all know the feeling. Speaking in public can be stressful. Yet it also can be fun and stimulating.

If you, or anyone you know, wants to improve speaking and leadership skills, the Pembina Valley Toastmaster Club is eager to help. The Toastmaster movement is based on two ideas:

  1. that we learn best by doing, and
  2. that we improve most through constructive feedback.

Each week members of our community meet to practice speaking in a social and supportive atmosphere. As we practice speaking in public, we help each other to become more confident and successful.

In a typical Toastmasters meeting, a member will give a prepared speech (5-7 minutes in length), while others have a chance to speak "off-the-cuff" (2-minute Tabletopics). Guided by helpful manuals prepared by Toastmasters International, club members learn more about public speaking and about running efficient and effective meetings.

The Pembina Valley Toastmasters Club also has a unique feature--two chapters which give our members schedule flexibility.

  • Our Morden chapter meets at South Central Regional Library on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. and
  • the Winkler chapter meets at the Chicken Delight restaurant on Thursdays at noon.

People are welcome to attend either chapter as a visitor for several weeks to observe our meetings and to determine how they might benefit by active participation. Whether one’s goal is personal or professional growth, the Toastmaster program has much to offer.
